Staying Warm Yourself:

  1. Layers on layers

    • wear an insulating layer to trap your own body heat

    • wear a shell to protect yourself from wind and remain dry

  2. Cover exposed skin

    • hats and gloves - wind chills could lead to frostbite

  3. Watch for signs of Hypothermia

    • shivering

    • shallow breathing

    • confusion

    • drowsiness

    • slurred speech

    • loss of coordination

    • weak pulse

Staying Warm in Your Home:

  1. Preventing Frozen Pipes

    • keep all cabinet doors open

    • keep the building warm

  2. Prevent overworking your Furnace

    • run ceiling fans clockwise recirculating warm air

    • keep south facing curtains open allowing the sun to help heat your home

  3. Do NOT use a stove or oven to heat your home

    • either can easily start a fire in your home
